The Memphis Group was an influential Italian design and architecture collective founded in Milan in 1981 by Ettore Sottsass. Active from 1981 to 1987, they challenged modernist aesthetics with their vibrant, post-modern designs featuring geometric shapes, bright colors, and laminate materials. Their radical furniture, lighting, and textiles had a significant impact on global design culture.
